TDS Embracing Sustainability: The GLARE Initiative

Sustainability is a key driver for Rona Tait, Managing Director of TDS Commercial, and TDS is proud to be at the forefront of promoting methods and processes to help commercial laundries become ever more sustainable.

In recent years, TDS Commercial has taken significant strides towards sustainability and its target of net zero carbo emissions. One of the latest initiatives they have been involved in is the Global Laundry and Rental Emissions (GLARE) carbon calculation platform, designed by the Textile Services Association. GLARE is designed to help commercial laundries measure their carbon footprint based on the Green House Gas protocol. This allows the industry to record and track carbon emissions using a well-established methodology, enabling users to report and implement effective carbon reduction plans.

TDS Commercial was one of the laundries that participated in the extensive system testing of GLARE prior to its launch. “GLARE has been designed to be easy to use,” says Rona, “It’s been created with a wide range of laundry businesses in mind, and it will be very useful to independent businesses who want a good benchmark to measure themselves against their own baseline numbers.”
